28 storeys closer to the beach
When John and Joanne McGuire move one street closer to the beach, they’ll be moving 28 storeys closer as well – and that’s significant. The McGuires, who purchased the level 1 penthouse at Palm Beach’s Perspective Two Sea, wanted the absolute beachfront but they also liked the idea of being closer to the ground.
“We are currently on the 29th floor, one block from the sand at Main Beach, and when we want to take the dogs down to the beach it is sometimes uncomfortable taking them down in the lifts,” Dr McGuire said. “At Two Sea, there is just one flight of stairs to go down and we can walk straight out onto the beach.”
John and Joanne are at the point where they want to cut down on work and retire with a couple of dogs at the beach.
“We looked at a lot of places and we loved how Perspective Two Sea was designed,” he said. “You can see a lot of work has gone into making the most of a great block of land. The design maximises the position with a large deck and entertainment area and takes full advantage of the view.”
At 429sqm, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, Perspective Two Sea also will be an upgrade in apartment size.
“We’ve had an apartment at Main Beach and it was huge. But this is even bigger and that’s exactly what we need with four adult children who will be coming for visits,” he said. “At Main Beach we are one street back from the beach and there are high rises going up around us so knowing we can’t get built out with the absolute beachfront at Palm Beach is a great attraction.”
The McGuires have a friend who lives next to the Perspective 488 and Perspective Two Sea site. They have always loved the area around Palm Beach so when they saw the sales office it was a case of being in the right place at the right time. John said he and Joanne had originally looked at one of the beachfront home sites at Perspective 488 but it was quickly sold to another buyer.
“When Perspective Two Sea was planned for the beachfront block next door, the CEO at Sherpa, Christie Leet, called to let us know,” he said. “We expressed interest in the ground floor originally, but 10 hours later another buyer had signed the documents. We made sure we locked in level one as quick as we could.”
The McGuires are no strangers to the property market in the south-east corner, having taken on a number of renovation projects.
“Joanne is an interior designer so that’s how we value-add. She can make on old home look a million dollars,” John said. “We’ve lived in Brisbane in an old Queenslander and we’ve bought and renovated a few properties over the years. This is the first time we’ve ever bought off-the-plan but Joanne will have some input for the interior design during the construction process. We’ll be going from a 40-year-old apartment to a brand new penthouse so we’re pretty excited about the prospect of moving in.”
