Former Gold Coast Chief Lifeguard, Warren Young, discovers calmer water on the Broadwater.

For someone who spent 48 years looking out for people in the Gold Coast surf, former Chief Lifeguard, Warren Young, found himself in a calmer environment on the Broadwater at Biggera Waters. Recently appointed the Brand Ambassador for Sherpa Property Group, Warren is now on the lookout for beachfront land in need of revival and visited Sherpa’s newest site where it will build Perspective Broadwater. The boutique development of six one-per-floor apartments and a two-level penthouse overlooks parkland and beachfront at Biggera Waters.

“The Broadwater is protected so you don’t have the waves like the exposed beaches, but the salt-water views are just as valuable when you want to live by the ocean,” Warren said. “There’s something about living next to the ocean that we find incredibly appealing. The lure of the water is timeless and the longer you spend living on the coast, the more important that part of your life becomes.

“When I go on holidays, as long as I’m somewhere near the water, I’m happy. (Sherpa CEO) Christie Leet is a salt-water tragic like myself and he knows unimpeded views of the ocean and Broadwater deserve living spaces that maximise the magic of these areas. That’s why I was so impressed with the design of Perspective Broadwater. Being one-per-floor gives you a lot of privacy and the floor plans are designed by maximum liveability and making the most of the views.”

Warren said while saltwater and beachfront living were similar, there was a special attraction with the Broadwater that appealed to some more than others.

“If you’re a keen surfer, there’s nothing better than having the wave action at your doorstep,” he said. “But if you love kayaking, paddling, fishing, sailing, or just cruising, the flatwater means you get so many more days on the water. At Perspective Broadwater, there is a marina only a short walk away so you can actually see your boat from your balcony. You can also see the other boats that are out on the Broadwater. The view is never uninteresting. And if you fancy going out into the deeper salt water, you can just cross the bar and you’re on your way.”

Warren said he was not really a fisherman but knew a lot of people who were.

“There’s a healthy fishery both inside and outside the Broadwater,” he said. “When I was doing the surf report on television, they always had blokes with fish in their hands and charter boats going out and catching good fish.”
